For my presentation, I focused on the racism and cultural appropriation in Hollywood focusing on Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. From my presentation, the use of wider context such as Black Lives Matter, Social Darwinism and Spike Lee will help me to shape my critical investigation and explore in depth why cultural appropriation is sort of acceptable in Hollywood and how certified directors are given more creativity and freedom to do so. The film Django relates to events happening recently such as the Black Lives Matter campaigns and the horrid treatment of black people in America and how it's very similar to what was happening 200 years ago with Slavery. I want to investigate wether racism still exists in Hollywood particularly focusing on Quentin Tarantino and his film Django Unchained.
